On the 690 I would ride classic supermoto style for any tight bends, hairpins, S-combinations or any situation where I have to shift the weight quickly from one side to the other. For corners with a large radii I choose hanging off, since the bike is more upright and thus more stable.
The triple is a delight to ride. The bike itself and its riding position is perfectly fine for me (30M, 1,83, 90kg). I can ride it for 6 hours with a few coffee breaks in between. You cannot twist the throttle to 100% in 1st from a standstill but any other gear you can. Riding 30 in second? Full throttle no problem.
